We are thrilled to announce two new members to the Coronado Community Foundation Board of Directors, Susie Keeney and Whitney Benzian. With deep roots in Coronado and a steadfast commitment to civic engagement, they bring invaluable passion and experience to our mission. CCF Board President Helen Kupka adds, "Their expertise and dedication for making a positive impact in our community will strengthen our efforts to address unmet needs and foster collaboration across Coronado."
Meet Susie:
Susie McAbee Keeney is second-generation Coronadoan and graduated from CHS where she played volleyball, softball and basketball, participated in the Islander Marching Band, student class government and cheerleading. She then went on to play shortstop for San Diego State University majoring in journalism and marketing. She worked for AT&T and then spent spent over a decade in medical sales. Always involved in her community, Susie coached Coronado Little League baseball and Girls softball prior to launching the John Harvard Academy, an after school tutoring and college prep company in Coronado. She is excited to be part of the Coronado Community Foundation.
Meet Whitney:
Raised in Coronado, Whitney is a CHS graduate who went on to pursue his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Sarah Lawrence College and Pepperdine University, respectively. He has lived and worked in Coronado since he came back home to raise his family. Currently a real estate agent and advisor with Douglas Elliman, Benzian is also an experienced civic leader. As a former Coronado City Council member and mayor pro tempore, Whitney is well-versed on municipal land use and housing policies that help inform his real estate practice. Prior to building his business, he was a marketing and public relations executive for the California Apartment Association in the San Diego office. He was recently appointed to the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Board of Directors.
